How Much Time Do You Make For Yourself?

Do you have a certain routine (daily preferably) or “escape” each day that’s for you and you alone?  If you don’t, it may be the very thing missing from your life.
At least 5 days a week, I retreat to the bathroom for a little “girly” escape. I put on a facial mask soak my feet in the tub, then follow it up with a foot scrub treatment, finishing off with great smelling lotion. After I take off the facial mask, I do or re-do my nails if they need it. Then I’ll finish the retreat off with a chapter from the Agatha Christie novel I’m reading at the time.
One of the quirkiest of the quirky things about me is that I am ALWAYS in the middle of an Agatha Christie mystery.  Even if it means going back and reading one I’d read years ago.  What can I say, I’m obsessed with Agatha Christie.
It may sound crazy to some people but the mini-retreat does me a lot of good and I mean A LOT. Fortunately, I work from home, so when I’ve reached a certain  point in my day when I could use a little relaxation, I minimize all of the windows on my computer, grab my coffee and iced tea (naturally I have both going at all times – another quirk or am I not alone in this one?), and off I head for the back of the house… followed immediately by my cat Alexa who enjoys a good retreat, herself.
More than anything, these precious few minutes I steal away from the day recharge me.  No matter how I felt immediately before the mini retreat… when I return to my computer, work, and the real world, I feel (and smell!) a world better.  I guess you could say it puts me in a better place.  In fact, I find that my thinking is even clearer after I return to my work. My creativity flows more graciously and I’m able to get things done in no time at all.
Like I said, it recharges me!
A lot of times I’ll hear from people who say they feel as though they’re hanging on by a thread.  Whether it’s stress, anxiety, or the blues – life appears to be serving them more than their plate can hold. Inevitably, I’ll ask them what they do to take time for themselves.  Just one short “get away” each day could make all the difference in the world.
How about you? What do you do each day to take a little time for yourself and recharge your own batteries?

How to Bring Change To Your Life

Are You Ready for a Change?

Commit to Change
Commit to Change and It’ll Be Yours!
All of us – every single one of us – has at least one change we need to make in our lives. We know full well what change needs to take place, and we certainly know WHY we want it to come about. The WHY may be more money, better health, better relationships, or better organization. Whatever the details, the change will be one that we know will add happiness and harmony to our lives.
Seems simple enough, right? What person in his or her right mind wouldn’t do whatever needed to be done to bring more happiness into their lives?
Unfortunately, there’s a reason I wrote “Seems simple enough” rather than just “Simple enough.” Change is hard! Funny, we always look at people around us and ask, “Why won’t ____ just change?” or “Why can’t ______ just give up smoking? He’s not even trying!” Yet, when it comes to ourselves we fully recognize how difficult it is to change habits – many of which are habits of a lifetime. Trying to develop a new, better habit while trying to ditch an old one is like trying to create a new bike path, while ignoring the one that’s already there. It’s so easy to steer back to familiar territory, isn’t it?!
I wish there was an easy answer. If one existed, I’d be typing it out right now – happily letting my readers know the simple thing they needed to do to achieve all they wanted to achieve and to be all they wanted to be. I’ve given it a lot of thought and have done a great deal of reading and research (to say nothing of the trial and error approach I’ve had with my own habits!). I know I’m dangerously close to oversimplifying, but success really does come down to a single word: Commitment.
If we commit our mind, body, and soul to a one single, reasonable purpose – we won’t be able to fail. However, that commitment can’t come and go. We can’t be as strong as a lion on Monday just to weaken into a kitten by Thursday. We have to “roaring” with determination and commitment every day. It doesn’t matter if we’re battling a bad temper, our weight, an addiction, or procrastination – in order to come out on the winning end, we have to commit ourselves to the win.
Part of the solution lies in battling FOR something rather than just battling AGAINST something. Focus on the positive – how wonderful you’ll feel once you’re standing on the winning side, how proud everyone who loves you will be of you, and how you’ll be in a position, then, to help others. Commit yourself fully to the change you want to bring about and you’ll leave your habits with only one choice: To come around to your way of thinking.

How to Make the Law of Attraction work for you?

The law of attraction is not a new idea. It has always been here from ancient times, and people have always used it. Hunters, who painted scenes of hunting on the walls of caves thousands of years ago, used the law of attraction, as well as modern businessmen, who visualize what they wish to accomplish. You use it too, whenever you think, make plans or daydream.
Books on this subject started to be popular more than a hundred years ago, but the authors of these books did not use the term "the law of attraction". They called it the law of opulence, mental power, mental magic, the power of thoughts or creative visualization. It is the same law, the same power, only with a different name.
Many years ago, William Walker Atkinson, Richard Ingalese, Opheil and many others, have written books on the power of the mind to attract what one thinks about, and these books are still popular and available nowadays at bookstores. Other known authors are Joseph Murphy, Napoleon Hill and Wallace.D.Wattle. Later, Shakti Gawain wrote a book on the subject and popularized the term "Creative Visualization".
All of these books are about what is now termed as "The law of attraction". As you see, it is not a new subject, but due to the media, it became a "hot" subject today. If you look around in bookstores, the Internet, TV and the newspapers, you will find many new books and articles on this subject budding every day. This brings to mind the well-known phrase, "there is nothing new under the sun". It is the same subject with a different name.
The message of all these books is that if you keep thinking upon a certain subject, you will ultimately attract it into your life. Thoughts, mental images and feelings can move the subconscious mind and the Universal Mind to act on your behalf and manifest your desires.
This is a most inspiring and elating idea, but inspiration and feelings of elation are not enough. You need to know what to do and how to proceed; otherwise you will get no results. You need to do more than just daydream for a t put some effort into this project and do not apply certain mental rules, you might not get results, and this can lead to disappointment, discouragement and to losing of faith in the law of attraction and the powers of the mind.
Reading books or articles about the law of attraction awaken a sensation of few moments, once in a while, about what you wish to get or achieve. If you don'power. The realization that you can transform your life and create success brings excitement and hope, but these feelings can change into disappointment and frustration, if you don't know what to do next.
If you are told that you can create anything you want, but are not provided with the proper guidance and practical instructions, how can you proceed?
It is not enough just to visualize a goal for a few minutes, and then let doubts and disbelief fill your mind for the rest of the day.
It is not enough just to visualize a few times, and then wait for miracles to happen.
  • You need to have a strong desire and motivation, and the commitment to do whatever is necessary to achieve your goal.
  • You need persistence, concentration, the ability to visualize, and at least some degree of self-discipline.
  • You need to learn to recognize opportunity when it appears, and to be willing and ready to take and use this opportunity.
  • You need to be willing to act and take the required steps whenever needed, and not just wait for your desires to materialize from thin air or suddenly drop on you from the sky.
In order to take full advantage of the law of attraction you need to know certain rules and follow them. It is true, some people achieve great success, without knowing much or anything about it, but they intuitively use it correctly.
The law of attraction is not a method for getting rich quickly, without doing anything. It requires mental work, focus and visualization, and also the willingness to follow the mental work with any required actions on the physical plane.
